Pride Month Mini-Exhibits
On Fridays throughout June 2024, in honor of the City of Gloucester’s ongoing celebration of #CapeAnnPride month, Hammond Castle Museum will be debuting a curated series of Pride-focused mini-exhibits. Each of these exhibits will highlight or celebrate the life and accomplishments of a different set of significant Queer figures who either visited the museum or were associated with its founder John Hays Hammond Jr. (b. 1888-d.1965).

Join us for a #CapeAnnPride raising at Gloucester City Hall at 11 AM.
Sunset Sessions: Pride Edition
Join us Friday, May 31st to kickoff #CapeAnnPride Weekend with “Sunset Sessions: Pride Edition” at Beauport Hotel's Birdseye Rooftop! Featuring live DJ entertainment from The 617 Event Group, dance along to your favorite beats, sip on handcrafted cocktails and take in the sweeping views of the Gloucester Harbor. Make sure to bring your suit if you want to take a dip in the pool or hot tub! This event is for 21+ adults only.

“Abbadia Mare”: A Night of Poetry & Pride
This #CapeAnnPride Month, join members of the community in celebrating Gloucester’s important and often overlooked role in transforming Queer culture and the arts, locally, regionally, and nationally.
With readings by community members from works by CharlesOlson, John Wieners, Robert Duncan, Gerrit Lansing, Daisy Alden, and many others, including, for the first time, newly unearthed poems by John Hays Hammond Jr. himself.
The evening will culminate in a reading of a unique illuminated version of “Abbadia Mare,” a poem written by Gerrit Lansing in the Museum’s Guest Book in 1959 about the building and personally dedicated to Hammond.
Hammond Castle Museum on Screen: Celebrating a Historic Legacy of Pride
Good Witches and Bad Witches alike! Join us in celebration of #CapeAnnPride month for a brief family-friendly examination of the Queer history of the popular ABC sitcom “Bewitched” and its cast, including the 1991 coming out of actor Dick Sargent and the pride activism of Sargent and the show’s star Elizabeth Montgomery, followed by a free screening of “Darrin on a Pedestal,” a 1970 episode of the program shot on location in Gloucester and at Hammond Castle Museum.
Pride Double-Feature: "Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon" and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."
Join other Queer film fans for two classics from the 1970s: “Tell Me You Love Me, Junie Moon” (starting Liza-with-a-Z Minnelli) and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” with the timeless (and time-warped) Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
Cape Ann Pride's Adult Social at Laneside Pub and Brewery at Cape Ann Lanes
Please join us every two weeks for casual conversation, fun pub food and drafts, at the Laneside Pub and Brewery in Gloucester, MA, on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 PM (all are welcome to stay for Video Bingo, which starts at 7:30). Look for a Pride Flag or two on one of the tables in the pub, or outside in the beer garden when weather permits. This event is for LGBTQIA+ adults, 21 or older.
